"Long Ride on a Short Track" is the definitive work on the history of auto racing on LI. It features the late Axel Anderson, who was one of the most colorful characters in Patchogue from 1940's - 1994. Axel was a racing driver of great reknown through out the north east and the south too, having competed at Daytona in the 1950's. His son Wayne who operates Axel Anderson Inc in Medford was the NASCAR modified champion for 1994. The author Ken Spooner is also a former Patchogue resident.
