Patchogue Christmas Parade Saturday Featuring Dancing Santas

Parade starts from corner of W. Main Street and West Avenue and proceeds east on Main Street to Rider Avenue.

Patchogue Village's 51st Christmas parade is Saturday, and Santa may be breaking out his dancing shoes.

That's because this year's theme is "Dancing with the Claus" and for the first time any parade float is allowed to have St. Nick.

The parade will start at 6 p.m. from the corner of W. Main Street and West Avenue, proceed east on Main Street and end at Rider Avenue. As previously reported, this year's categories for float contests are Mayors Cup--Best Overall Unit, Commissioner's Trophy--Most Original Unit, Chamber President's Trophy--Most Holiday Spirit, Trophy--Best Fire Department and Best Car/Truck Club.

Patch's advice is to get into Patchogue early if attending and dress warmly. This is one of Patchogue's most popular, as well as typically coldest weather traditions. There will be no shortage of reasons to come early, as a putting green contest is taking place that morning at Shorefront Park and Small Business Saturday shopping and entertainment is happening on Main Street in the afternoon.

What dance styles do you want to see Santa take down Main Street? Jive, tango, meringue, or perhaps the simple fist-pump? Talk about it in the comments below this post.
