Video for Patchogue Village Board of Trustees Meeting of 6/24/13

This blog refers to a video for the 6/24/13 meeting of the Patchogue Board of Trustees. It is the most current video in a series of videos that the Citizens Campaign for Open Government has been filming in order to provide public information to the residents of the village particularly those not able to attend meetings of the Board in person for whatever reasons. At the end of this blog you will find a link to the website of the group where these videos are posted care of You Tube. Please read the rest of this blog though for some important information that will help your viewing experience. If you want to skip that process then proceed to: :

Before posting each video is reviewed. This posting is different from our earlier postings as it presents the meeting in two videos. In line with our policy of open disclosure the reason for this is a technical issue. The first of the two videos does have a slight delay between image and audio of about one second. As a result there is an apparent lag. While distracting at times it is possible to follow the video and understand what is being said. Part two, the second video, has no such issues. Also the mike for the camera is very sensitive, at times it has picked up extra sound when the tripod has to be re-positioned when the camera has to be panned for a changed view. The background sound is short and occasional only.

As I have related before this effort is a volunteer effort. We have no high priced technical staff on hand to help us resolve complicated issues that do arise from time to time. We have no outside funding of any sort as well. We have to make do with limited resources at times such as now. The posting of this video was considerably delayed to find a solution but in the end a fix could not be found. To resolve this issue for future video posting we are going to be using a new camcorder to see if that camcorder can film without the same issues.

We hope it will provide a solution as it remains our goal to present the best quality video within our means to do so consistently.

Part one of this video focuses mostly on the public hearing regarding zoning approvals sought for a 25 million dollar assisted living facility proposed for east main street in the village. Part two, which begins after the Board adjourned for a break and then started business anew, covers the majority of the scheduled business on the agenda for that date.

Both videos can be found on the website for the Citizens Campaign for Open Village Government at: Patchogue:

On that same page there is a link to a PDF document that is also available for review and that document is a copy of the “trustee packet”. This packet contains the information that the trustees have in their possession when they are in session. The packet is not distributed to the public and was obtained by a freedom of information request so that it could be posted allowing members of the public to see what the trustees used as references when reaching their decisions.

For a further guide the Village website can be viewed for a copy of the agenda of the meeting. The agenda appears on the first page of the village website. The website can be found at:

www.patchoguevillage.org/

The village website also posts copies of the official minutes of all meetings and those minutes can also serve as a tool for any interested citizen who wants to know more about how their village government works.

Below are time references to allow a viewer to find a particular section of interest in either video. These videos are hosted on You Tube, a time bar appears along with the video and by moving it a viewer can go directly to any portion for viewing if desired. The total meeting time for both videos filmed exceeds two hours.
