Supreme Governor Visits Patchogue Lodge 518

Patchogue, NY: Patchogue Lodge 518 of the Loyal Order of Moose has been selected to host Joseph R. Koons, Supreme Governor of the Loyal Order of Moose, during his travels through the state of New York. This event is scheduled for 5pm on November 1st, 2013. Brother Koons rose to become the Moose fraternity's chief presiding officer on May 29, 2013, elected by vote of Supreme Lodge delegates to a one-year term, at the fraternity’s 125th International Convention in Milwaukee. Joe had served as Supreme Jr. Governor since July 2012, elected to that post at the 124th International Convention in Tampa.

Joe has served on the Supreme Council, the fraternity’s corporate Board of Directors, since June 2004. Prior to that, he had served six years on the Mooseheart Board of Directors, and four years before that on the International Community ServiceCommittee.

Joe joined the Moose in 1970 as a member of Danville, PA Lodge 1133, where he holds a Life Membership. He served through the chairs, served as Administrator, and is a Past Governor. He also holds Membership in Selinsgrove, PA Lodge 1173. A member of Susquehanna Moose Legion 89, Joe has served the Pennsylvania Moose Association as District President, Youth Awareness Coordinator, and as Government Relations Chairman. He served as Association President during 1999-2000.

A member of the 250 Division of the 25 Club, he received the Fellowship Degree of Honor in 1984, and the Pilgrim Degree of Merit in 1991.

Joe retired in 1999 after 36 years of professional service to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; he still serves part-time as a consulting therapist for troubled youth. He has also served on the Township Municipal Authority. He is also a member of the Masons, Elks, and Eagles fraternal orders, the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, and Sunnybrook playground. He has coached Little League and has served the Boy Scouts of America as a Scoutmaster. Currently, he is on the board of the Danville Playground Association, and serves as a member of the Valley Township Municipal Authority.

Joe and his wife, Connie, reside in Danville, PA. They have two children and four grandchildren.
