Former Patchogue WLIM Manager Passes Away

Dorothy Shiebler with her husband managed the Patchogue-based radio station for 20 years.

Dorothy Shiebler, who formerly managed Patchogue’s WLIM / 1580 AM radio station with her husband, recently passed away on July 16 at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue at age 85.

According to an obituary ran on Shiebler in Newsday on Sept. 3, Shiebler and her husband Jack Ellsworth managed the station from 1981 to 2001, broadcasting Big Band music and local news to an audience primarily in central Long Island.

The couple sold the station and WLIM now runs Spanish-language programming.
