Patchogue's St. Patrick's Parade & 5k Race Are Postponed

Due to the inclement weather, tomorrow's St. Patrick's Parade and "May the Road Rise to Meet Ye 5k" have been rescheduled to Sunday, April 6. The race will begin at 12:20 p.m. with the parade following shortly after. Both events will start at the corner of Main Street and Route 112 and proceed west on Main Street toward West Ave.

I hope it doesn't start at 12:20 am. That's an early 5k. Lol

Having the parade almost a month after St Pat's is dumb. At this point just postpone it until next year. Maybe they can pick a date closer to 3/17

Sorry but for the second time we will be culminating Patchogue's Saint Patrick's celebration in April. The last time was 2009 when a similar weather delay forced Pat and Lynn O'Connell's line of march out of March. Our scheduled date is always (almost) the last Sunday in March and if there is anyone who would like to help and suggest other times, bands, etc.... constructive input is always welcome. Meanwhile with contracts and obligations to dozens of bands, race officials, advertising paid for by the Saint PATchogue Wit and Wisdom News and hundreds of runners pre-registered, we are at least morally obligated to try and pull this off this year. We are very grateful (and darn lucky) the Village of Patchogue, SCPD and all the other moving parts are cooperating to allow this next Sunday when the sun will be shining and Patrick Moore will be leading the best [and yes the very, Very last] Saint Patrick's Parade on Long Island. Looking forward to seeing the parade late or not. Thanks Tom for all your efforts to keep this tradition alive in our village Mother Nature cooperating or not at times. I think with the sun shining it will be grand!

Always eager to hear those Bagpipes playing and see all those happy faces smiling. Everyone loves a parade in Patchogue. Thanks to all those who work on this event. It will be a pleasant day.
