Rorie Kelly and Christine Sweeney to appear at The Roast Saturday 9/21
The Roast Coffee & Tea Trading Co., a fav coffee spot for Patchoguers, hosts a monthly music showcase called "Rule the Roast." Hank Stone, the MC for the shows, is calling upon two local female indie rockers for this month's installment (the 20th in the series!).
Christine Sweeney is a bluesy/pop influenced singer from Long Island. She has been compared to KD Lang and KT Tunstall, and cites the latter as a big influence. Performing solo for almost 10 years, she has the presence of a seasoned vet, while still having a raw moment here and there. Her most recent CD, Live at the Bitter End, can be found on iTunes. Her band formed in the past year, and looks forward to recording their first project together. Find more about Christine Sweeney and the Dirty Stayouts at christinesweeney.com.
Rorie Kelly is a small whirlwind powerhouse of song. The Long Island native has played all over, and has been called "Independent, free, and full of complexity. Difficult to cage..." by LI Pulse Magazine. Her CD, "Sincerely Live," will be celebrated at this show, as it is doubling as a CD release party. Visit roriekelly.com for more.
