Damages from Hurricane Irene have left Mascot Dock closed for boat slips, where will you dock instead?

Due to damages from Hurricane Irene, Mascot Dock rent any boat slips in 2012.

So boat owners, where will you be docking your boat this summer instead? Vote for one of a few local marinas or if its out of town in the poll below. Comment if your selection is missing.

Actually, I had my boat @ Mascot 2 summers ago. There was a bad storm the weekend of the boat race that year. The cleat on the dock let go/broke & my boat was not secure, from rotting dockage/cleat area. My boat, 25' O'day Sailboat, was tossed around, and of course I was contacted, but it was too late. By the time I was allowed to get to my boat; because no-one was aloud to enter the area while the races were going, it had a gapping hole in the side @ the rub rail from where the storm surge threw my boat against the poles. I explained to both patchogue, and their insurance co. & got an estimate, but the insurance company refused to refund my losses, and because of the costs, Patchogue refused to cover it also. Due to no fault of my own, and weak/rotten cleats, my boat remians broken. Also, becuase they havent offered the village residence an optional, discounted marina, I will be unable to afford to use it this season. So rather than having minimum commerce for the town, their will be none. I agree with S & B... give the residence an option & create some income, however minimum it is, and use that to fix what shouldnt be broken, still. Mike G Owner/Operator - ALL COVERAGE

The lot across from Lombardis used to be parking for mascot dock boat owners. Now we all know what it's for! Again nothing is wrong with the marina, no reason it should not be open! Something is up, soon it will come to light....

They cry they are losing 19k on boat slip rentals, so why in gods name are they crying? They won't open it! They are doing it to themselves. How stupid are these people?

Bellport had damage from Irene...it's fixed. Their marina is thriving, their village-only ferry is running to their village-owned beach. The Sandspit has become a place for out=of=towners to park when they go to their homes on Fire Island, while resident taxpayers pay a fee to park. Where are the perks for village residents? Seems as if we get apartments and condos...instead. And when we have a small perk (the marina)...it's unrepaired. Odd.

If you are a resident, you can get a Brookhaven sticker for your vehicles. This is the first year residents are being charged, but the fee is small, $25 for 2 yrs., even smaller for senior or handicapped citizens, $15 for 2 yrs. See http://www.davisparkferry.com/sticker.pdf for more information. The last I saw, nonresidents pay $20/day to park at Sandspit.
