They are closing the schools tomorrow! Why? This storm was on Friday. They had more than enough time to prepare for it. They (Cuomo) have the nerve to talk about LIPA! They are no better.

So many roads are impassable. Neighborhoods have not been touched in order for busses, cars, children to safely get through to attend school. I had not seen a Town of Brookhaven truck in my neighborhood until about 20 minutes ago, and he was driving with the plow UP! I understand the conditions are bad, but ...Come on, humor me and put the plow down!

I just drove down to the Patchogue Post Office and attempted to return via 112. The road is closed because it's covered with thick snow and is potholed because of it. I took an alternate route up Case AVenue. THAT is a mess. I then cut across Cleveland Street and bounced along on those snow potholes. Back to 112 for a short distance to Roe and it was as big a mess as anything. The cops are blocking anything north of Roe and it appears that at Sunrise they have that closed too. 1978 all over again.

I agree with you 100% I haven't even seen 1 plow in my neighborhood, they should have been out plowing before the roads had 30+ inches on them.

Panico said he approved the purchase of additional sand and salt Thursday morning in advance of the storm. "We have an army ready to go. This is New York and we have snowstorms, people expect them. We are ready," said Daniel Panico, Brookhaven councilman and deputy supervisor. The deputy supervisor said between the Town-owned vehicles and contractors, Brookhaven has between 450 and 500 snowplows on hand to help clear roads. Brookhaven has 180 employees in its Highway Department on-call to begin sanding and salting roads early Friday, then clearing roadways once snow begins to accumulate. Parks department and waste management employees with the town are on back up.
