Brief: Chimney Fire in Medford

Medford Fire Department and Ambulance workers arrive at Sipp Avenue residence to stop fire.

A chimney fire at a residence on Sipp Avenue was reported early Saturday morning said Suffolk County Police.

Medford Fire Department arrived on scene at approximately 1:20 a.m. said a member of the Medford Fire Police.

Medford Fire Department Chief Normam Malcher said the incident is currently under investigation. The fire was above the resident's second floor and had burned through part of the roof said Assistant Chief Billy Hart. The house is not heavily damaged, but enough so that its occupants would have to seek alternate accommodation for now Hart said.

Firefighters were both on the roof of the house as well as inside its interior.

After the fire was put out, trucks from the department began to leave at approximately 2:10 a.m.
