Coram Woman Dies in Medford Crash

Maria Nunez was killed after her vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic, police said.

A Coram woman was killed after her vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic in Medford Sunday afternoon, police said.

Police say that Maria Nunez, 82, was driving a 2003 Ford Focus northbound on Route 112 when her vehicle crossed over into the southbound lane and struck a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe in front of 2944 Route 112 at 12:06 p.m.

Nunez was transported to in East Patchogue, where she was pronounced dead.

A Coram family consisting of Edward Montalvo, 41, his wife Karen, 36 and their two children ages 4 and 7 were in the Chevrolet and were also transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Both vehicles have been impounded for a safety check. Police are continuing the investigation.
