Crimes Nearby: Police Investigating Shooting Death

Suffolk County police are continuing their investigation into the shooting death of Flanders man.

According to police, Demitri Hampton, 21, was found in his Flanders home on Sunday, January 27, with a gunshot wound in his chest. He was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead where he was pronounced dead.

Suffolk police said Southampton Town Police were called to a residence after a 911 caller reported that armed men had broken into the home and shot a man.

• Stolen Credit Cards Used

Suffolk police and Crime Stoppers are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate two female suspects they said used a stolen credit card at various locations in Centereach.

According to police, a female victim was shopping at the Stop & Shop supermarket in Coram when she realized her wallet and credit cards had been stolen. Upon reporting the incident to her bank, she learned that her credit card was used to make more than $500 worth of purchases.

• Stolen Home Music System

Suffolk police are seeking the public’s help in identifying the man they said stole a home music system from the Central Islip Target.

According to police, a man entered the store on January 12 at approximately 9 a.m. and stole a Sonos HiFi 5 home music system.
