Crimes Nearby: Police Seek Counterfeiter, Gas Station Vandals

Suffolk police offering rewards for information that leads to the arrest of suspects in several cases.

The following Crime Alerts were reported by Suffolk Police.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Fifth Squad detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the person who used counterfeit money for a Western Union transaction.

According to police, an unknown male entered the Waldbaums supermarket, located at 440 West Sunrise Highway in North Patchogue on September 29, 2012, at approximately 6:15 p.m. and used three fake $100 bills to complete a Western Union money transaction.

The man is described as black, average build with short black hair. He was seen wearing a light-colored shirt and brown pants.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Sixth Precinct Crime Section officers are seeking the public’s help in identifying and locating the individuals responsible for vandalizing a Centereach gas station.

Police said three men vandalized a door and utility boxes using a black permanent marker at the Gulf Gas Station, located at 1740 Middle Country Road, on February 26 at approximately 3 a.m. The three were on foot.

• Stolen Credit Card Used

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Fifth Squad detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the man who used a stolen credit card in Bayport.

According to police, a credit card was stolen from a motor vehicle and then used by a man, who entered 7-Eleven, located at 863-865 Montauk Highway on March 7 at 1:40 a.m. The man purchased two sandwiches and 10 packs of Newport cigarettes. The credit card was also used at a Valero gas station on Middle Country Road in Selden approximately an hour later.  

The man was described as white, unshaven, between 30 to 35 years old, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall to 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a thin build. He was wearing a Giants knit ski cap, black waist length jacket with Sean John written across the chest, dark pants and white sneakers.

Anyone with information about these crimes is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential. Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
