UPDATE: E. Patchogue Bicyclist Killed in Hit-And-Run Crash

Eric Dennis, 22, was struck by two cars Thursday night, police say.

An East Patchogue man riding a bike near his home Thursday night was seriously injured and later died after being hit by two cars, one of which fled the scene, police said.

Eric Dennis, 22, was crossing South Country Road, near Clinton Avenue, on his bike around 9:30 p.m. when he was struck by a westbound 2000 Jeep operated by 56-year-old Patchogue resident Deborah Lamm, police said.

The impact of the Jeep landed Dennis in the eastbound lane of the road, where he was then hit by a light-colored SUV. Police are now searching for that SUV, which did not stop and continued east on South Country Road.

Dennis was taken via police helicopter to Stony Brook University Medical Center, where he was listed in serious condition. Police said Friday morning that he had died of his injuries.

The Jeep was impounded for a safety check and police said no criminal charges would be filed against Lamm.
