Dumpster Behind E. Patchogue Lowes Goes Ablaze

No injuries reported, store remained open.

The dumpster behind the East Patchogue location of caught fire Wednesday night for two hours. No injuries were reported due to this fire.

While the cause is unknown, the fire was called into the North Patchogue Fire Department at 6:59 p.m. and was under control by 8:10 p.m. said John Mentzel, chief of the department.

Mentzel said that the fire did not spread outside of the dumpster. The department had to separate the garbage reductor from the compactor and then flood the dumpster in order put out the fire.

The Lowe's store appeared to remain in operation throughout the entire fire.
