Father Hid Drugs Near 18-Month-Old Children

Father arrested for hiding drug paraphernalia near car seats of children.

A Medford father was arrested for attempting to hide heroin and a hypodermic needle near his two 18-month-old children sitting in the back of his car.

Richard Neumann, 26, was pulled over as part of a traffic stop at 655 Montauk Highway in Patchogue Tuesday around 9:00 a.m. As officers approached the vehicle, he allegedly hid drug paraphernalia near the car seats of his son and daughter. The children have been released to their mother and Suffolk County Child Protective Services was alerted.

Neumann was also driving with a suspended license and possessed stolen property according to Suffolk County Police.

Neumann was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument, criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree and aggravated unlicensed operation in the second degree.
