Four Firefighters Injured Battling E. Patchogue Home Blaze

Firefighters expected to be OK following Saturday night fire on Durkee Lane.

Four firefighters sustained non-life threatening injuries while battling a blaze at an East Patchogue home Saturday night, officials said.

The fire broke out around 8:45 p.m. at a sprawling two-story home just yards from the waterfront on Durkee Lane.

John Tew, chief of the Hagerman Fire Department, confirmed to Patch that four firefighters were injured while bringing the fire under control, which took several hours.

Fire officials Tuesday did not release information on the current status of the injured firefighters, but all four are expected to be OK.

The expansive home sustained severe damage to the roof and through the interior of the structure.

Neighbors on Durkee Lane told Patch that the residents have relocated while the damaged home is repaired. No word on what may have caused the weekend blaze.
