What is happening in our home town? Every week there seems to be a shooting or an arrest.

Look who's involved, where it happened, and what time of night.... Are you really surprised? I consider north of 495 acolyte loss at this point. Everyone better start getting involved in their community or south of 495 will look the same very soon.
NeneNini NeeNee December 25, 2013 at 11:46 PM
What do you mean by look who's involved? The only name that they mention is my brothers and he had nothing to do with what happened! Do you go to work and know what is going to happen!? No. You really need to think about what you say before you post it. Its not fair he had to get killed on christmas day! He really touched a lot of people with his laughter and big smile...i just can't beleive your no longer here

Inspector Palmieri Sixth Precinct Commanding Officer 400 Middle County Road Selden, NY 11784 631-854-8600 This is the precinct that serves North Medford. I would suggest writing a letter expressing our concerns. If the community doesn’t complain, we won’t get any action. I’ll be writing letters. Also, if you see something wrong, call. You cal also go to the community meetings and can emails.

Thanks Craig great advice. Medford is out of control. Robbery after robbery up and down 112. If you see something we have to start saying something. Suspicious car?... Call the cops. Perps smoking weed?....call the cops. As soon as perps feel like this is a community that won't look the other way and WILL DO something the crime will stop.
Debra Bel December 26, 2013 at 08:19 AM

@C O .... Taleiks brother is right. And who are you to disrespect my friends? You had no idea what they were doing. or why tthey were there. I do. That shop is only open at night. Whitey is albino. Thats when the cars get wprked on. So you know what? It seems normal to his brother for a reason. Taleik would never hurt anybody. neither would frank whitey or jessica..
Don Stutzenburg December 26, 2013 at 02:54 PM
Dont speak ill of the passed on. You didnt know him. How would you feel if you lost a good friend or family member?
C O December 26, 2013 at 03:45 PM
My understanding is that it was his sister commenting and nobody said HE was doing anything to deserve what happened. BUT... That neighborhood is terrible, and that might be the only mechanic shop open at 330 a.m on Christmas Day in the world. Who drops their car off for repairs between 9pm and 5am? Either way the point is that the area north of the LIE is a burden to all surrounding areas and a crime ridden disgrace. Things like this happen in areas like that.

Email Legislator Calarco. He is the Vice Chair of the Public Safety Committee which has jurisdiction over all matters pertaining to the Suffolk County Police Department. Maybe he can push the Department to get something going. (Romaine's office told me he is the guy to contact.) Robert.Calarco@suffolkcountyny.gov

It is a shame, poverty begets poverty. Children learn what they live. It kills me that human beings are killing each other, not just in Medford, all over the tri state area, and it is usually done to one's own "people" Shooting innocent children? Wow! that makes you the "man" Wake up people! Look what Guliani did for Times Square..Drive the bad people away. Let them know they are not welcome in our neighborhoods. As Mr Thomson stated above, keep calling the police, see something say something.

Thanks Craig for posting all of the contact info. Calarco is the most important for ALL to contact as he is our elected and should be addressing this issue with us. I too am fearful of what is happening to this neighborhood. I have been out here for 21 years and have watched the community go into a downward spiral.

First off....my heartfelt condolences to the family of the young man who was murdered in the engine shop on Christmas.... 2nd..Seems like a lot of people have "opinions" on the circumstances of many of the recent events.. You DO NOT know the details..there is A LOT the police do not disclose and your uninformed opinions can be extremely hurtful to the family! Err to the side of compassion and hold your opinions of the judgements until the facts are out!
C O December 30, 2013 at 06:52 AM
You assume some of us don't already have details Susan. Sorry but if I waited for the news to release any details and if I actually believed the news to be truthful I would be sadly disappointed.

Email Legislator Calarco. He is the Vice Chair of the Public Safety Committee which has jurisdiction over all matters pertaining to the Suffolk County Police Department. Nothing will be done unless we all complain. Calarco's office responds and his staff reaches out to the 5th Precinct. If enough people complain, then we will receive action. I have lived here for 10 years and I have never seen anything like this. I am angry as hell. We need to beg the police to do their job and tell them how to fight crime? I pay 1900 per year on top of my obscene school taxes for that! Calarco is controlled by the SCPD period. He will do nothing to change a darn thing in that corrupt cesspool. The PDs on LI are an institution. Unfortunately, the middle class smuck has to fund it and their obscene salaries gained by extorting our county pols for their support. Simple ain't it!!! Ballon's first act as Ececutive Hack was to grant massive raises to the SCPD in a five year, yes five year contract. Their is your answer.
