Man Arrested in Patchogue on Felony DWI Charge

Police have stepped up DWI patrols for Memorial Day weekend.

A North Babylon man was arrested in Patchogue early Saturday morning and charged with driving while intoxicated and without a required interlock device, police said.

Gary Sabia, 24, was pulled over at Holbrook Road and Waverly Avenue at 3:11 a.m. after Fifth Precinct officer Jaime Bustamante, on DWI patrols as part of a crackdown over the holiday weekend, observed Sabia's 2004 Ford Mustang fail to signal as it turned from Main Street to Holbrook Road and continue to speed in Patchogue, police said.

Sabia is charged with felony DWI, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle without a required interlock device. Sabia has a prior DWI conviction.

He was scheduled for arraignment Saturday at First District Court in Central Islip.
