Man Found Dead Along Medford Road

Man may have frozen to death, according to report.

A man was found dead along Patchogue-Yaphank Road in Medford Saturday afternoon, Suffolk County police said.

Police told Patch that detectives responded to a 911 call at 2:54 p.m. regarding a non-criminal death at 700 Patchogue-Yaphank Road in Medford, which is the Sunshine Square shopping center. Police say an autopsy is being performed on the man to determine cause of death, and his identity has not been released.

According to authorities cited in a report on News 12, the man’s body was found frozen in a sump along the road. Authorities say in the report that the man is believed to have been homeless, but could not confirm.
