Medford Man Killed in Car Crash

A 72-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene in Yaphank.

A Medford man was killed in a two-car crash that took place just after noon on Monday in Yaphank, Suffolk County Police said.

According to police, John Stewart, 72, was exiting the parking lot of the Hess gas station at 80A Horseblock Road, when his vehicle collided into the 2001 Chevrolet truck traveling westbound driven by Roberto Reyes, 31, of Central Islip.

Stewart was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. Reyes sustained minor injuries and was transported to in East Patchogue.

The incident is under investigation. Detectives ask that anyone with information on the crash call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
