Medford Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash

Philip Bellafatto dies after his bike strikes the side of a tractor trailer Friday night.

A Medford man died Friday night after his motorcycle crashed into a tractor trailer on the Long Island Expressway service road, police said. 

Philip Bellafatto, 27, was riding a 2006 Kawasaki westbound on Express Drive North, near exit 64 in Medford, when his bike struck the side of the tractor trailer, which was exiting the Sam's Club parking lot at 7:09 p.m., police said. 

Bellafatto was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the tractor trailer, Charles Wilson, 49, of East Orange, N.J., was not injured in the crash, police said.

No charges were filed against Wilson. 

Police said the investigation into the crash is continuing and they ask anyone with information to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8641.

That's the second fatality in the same exact location and under the same exact circumstances in recent months. What could be wrong with that area that causes two deaths? Does anyone in the town care or try to find and correct the cause? There was another motorcycle fatality on the N/S Expressway and Old Medford Ave last year.
