Medford Woman Killed in Crash on LIE

Three-vehicle accident occurred in Holtsville Thursday afternoon.

A Medford woman was killed in a three-vehicle crash on the Long Island Expressway in Holtsville Thursday afternoon, police said.

Yong Soon Yim, 76, sideswipped a tractor trailer at around 1:10 p.m., causing her to lose control of her car, police said. 

Soon Yim's 2003 Hyundai Elantra then struck a Mercedes SUV head-on on the westbound side of the LIE between exits 61 and 62, police said.

Soon Yim, who was travelling alone, was pronounced dead at Stony Brook University Medical Center.

The driver of the Mercedes, Richard Regan, 55, of Valley Stream, and his passenger, were also transported to Stony Brook University Medical Center, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the tractor trailer, Kevin Blake, 33, of Massachusetts, was not injured.
