Motorcyclist Killed, Passenger Seriously Hurt in Sunrise Highway Crash
Medford man killed in crash in East Islip Sunday, police say.
Update (Monday 3:30 p.m.) Christopher Gonzalez has died from his injuries, police said.

A Medford man is in critical condition and his passenger was also seriously injured after he drove his motorcycle into the back of a car on Sunrise Highway Sunday night, police said.

According to police, Christopher Gonzalez and a passenger, Samantha Negron, of Patchogue, were on a 2012 Yamaha motorcycle traveling eastbound on Sunrise Highway in East Islip, just east of Exit 46, at about 7:08 p.m. when the accident occurred, police said.
Gonzalez, 21, suffered serious head injuries and was transported by ambulance to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore. Negron, 21, was transported by ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious physical injuries, police said.

The driver of the car involved in the crash, Mary Paniccia, 63, of Shirley, and her 13-year-old grandson, who was also in the car, were not injured in the crash.
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing, police said. Detectives are asking anyone with any information on the crash to contact the Vehicular Crime Unit at 631-852-6555.
