Nearby: Car Collides With Fuel Truck in Holtsville

Police say roughly 10 gallons of fuel spilled, shutting down roadway for five hours.

A Selden man was hospitalized for minor injuries after his vehicle collided with a fuel truck on Union Avenue in Holtsville this morning.

According to police the fuel truck was leaving the Northville Terminal on Union Avenue at around 4:15 a.m. when it was T-boned by a 2005 Chevy traveling eastbound on Union.

The car was wedged under the truck upon impact. The driver, Vincent Sanita, 26, of Seldeon was transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the fuel truck was not injured.

Police say the fuel truck dumped approximately 10 gallons of fuel from the rupture caused by the impact and emergency workers shut down Union Avenue for about five hours for cleanup.

The fuel truck driver was issued a summons for an equipment violation, according to authorities.
