Four vehicles were involved in a motor vehicle crash at the beginning of the new construction work on the Ronkonkoma Avenue Bridge.

According to police the accident happened Wednesday night around 10:30 on the eastbound side of Exit 59. Due to the bridge repair work the LIE was narrowed down to two lanes. Police say three cars in a single file came to a stop when the lanes narrowed, but a fourth vehicle, a 2001 Chrysler Town and Country failed to stop.

The vehicle, driven by a 64-year-old man from Holbrook, struck the rear of the last vehicle, which hit the next vehicle, which hit the next.

Two people suffered minor injuries. Three of the vehicles were towed. No one was charged with any violations, according to police.
