A 20-year-old East Moriches man was killed in a single-car crash Sunday morning in Shirley, says Suffolk County Police.

A 20-year-old East Moriches man was killed in a single-car crash Sunday morning in Shirley, says Suffolk County Police.

Police say Ronald Murphy was driving a 2012 Nissan Altima northbound on William Floyd Parkway, south of Coraci Boulevard, when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree and telephone pole around 11:50 a.m.

Murphy was the only person in the vehicle and was taken via Mastic Beach Ambulance to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue where he was pronounced dead, says police.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating the crash and asking anyone with information to call 631-852-8752.
