Patchogue Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash in Huntington

Matias Banegas was killed in a crash at the intersection of Jericho Turnpike and Park Avenue on Sunday, police say.

A Patchogue motorcyclist was killed at the intersection of East Jericho Turnpike and Park Avenue in Huntington Sunday evening.

Suffolk County Police identified Matias Banegas, 23, as the victim on Tuesday afternoon.

According to police, Karen Brandine, 53, of Huntington Station was driving her 2011 Toyota Camry southbound on Park Ave. While making a left turn onto eastbound Jericho Turnpike at about 6 p.m., a male motorcyclist, traveling northbound on a 2007 Kawasaki motorcycle, crashed into the Toyota.

The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

Witnesses said the young man was riding his bike and collided with a sedan.

The intersection has been the scene of numerous accidents.
