Pedestrian Seriously Hurt in Car Crash

Thomas Lee was pushing a shopping cart at a busy intersection when he was hit by a 2005 Chevy.

Suffolk County Police detectives are investigating a car crash on Friday night that seriously injured a pedestrian pushing a shopping cart at the intersection of Waverly Avenue and Gateway Boulevard.

According to police, Thomas Lee was struck by a 2005 Chevrolet being driven by John Babino, 41, of Holbrook.

Lee, of Manorville, was rushed to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Center in East Patchogue, where he is being treated for head trauma. He is in critical condition.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing.
