Police: Drunk E. Patchogue Man Crashes Into Bus, One Seriously Injured

Angel Moreno-Reyes flees scene of crash and is arrested a few hours later in Bayport, police say.

A man driving drunk crashed into a Suffolk County Transit bus Tuesday morning on Montauk Highway in Patchogue, seriously injuring his passenger, police said.  

The driver, Angel Moreno-Reyes, 21, of East Patchogue, fled the scene on foot after the accident, which occurred just west of Waterworks Road around 6:15 a.m., police said. 

Moreno-Reyes was arrested a few hours later on South Fairview Avenue in Bayport and charged with driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an incident without reporting involving physical injury, police said.

Moreno-Reyes was driving a 1997 Nissan Pathfinder westbound on Montauk Highway when his vehicle crossed over the double yellow line and struck an eastbound Suffolk County Transit bus, police said. 

A 25-year-old Patchogue man, Marvin Garcia, a passenger in the Pathfinder, was transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center, where he was admitted with a serious head injury. Two passengers on the bus were treated for minor injuries, police said.

Moreno-Reyes will be processed at the Fifth Precinct after being treated for a broken wrist, police said.
