Police: E. Patchogue Woman Dies In Two-Car Crash

An East Patchogue woman was killed in a two-car crash Wednesday evening at the intersection of Gazzola Drive and Sills Road in East Patchogue, said Suffolk County Police.

Police said that Camille Ricciardo, 71, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Classic east on Gazzola Drive when her vehicle struck a 2006 Chevrolet commercial pickup traveling south on Sills Road around 5:45 p.m.

Ricciardo was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. Police said the driver of the truck, Justin Klein, 23 of Medford, was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say that Klein, who works for 84 Lumber, was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree. Klein was held overnight at the Fifth Precinct and is scheduled for a Thursday arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on April 18.
Detectives are asking anyone with information to call Vehicular Crime Unit at 631-852-6555.
