Update: Fire Closes Off River Avenue

Update Nov. 5, 9:32 a.m.: Patchogue Fire Department chief Joe Perry told Patch that Monday night's fire on River Avenue involved a garbage can, hay bales and a building that is on the same property as the Off Key Tikki. The bar itself was not affected by the fire, but the exterior of the nearby building is charred, Perry said. The interior of that building is not affected.

The bar was not occupied at the time of the fire, and there were no injuries. Perry said that when the fire department arrived there were residents attempting to put out the fire with a garden hose. Perry said the fire was under control by 11:56 p.m.

The fire's cause is currently not known.
