Police Investigating Medford Bank Robbery

Astoria Federal Savings Bank on Route 112 the site of Saturday morning's theft.

Suffolk County Police are investigating the robbery of the Astoria Federal Savings Bank branch in Medford Saturday morning.

According to police, a man entered the bank located at 2775 Route 112 at around 10:15 a.m. and handed a teller a note demanding cash and threatening the use of a weapon. The teller complied, giving cash to the man who then fled on foot.

Police describe the robber as a male in his 30s with a heavy build, approximately 5-feet 10-inches tall with a goatee. The suspect was wearing a black baseball cap with safety goggles on top, a black long sleeve shirt and a white glove with a red palm on his right hand.

Police ask anyone with information on the bank robbery to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
