Police: Medford Man Killed In Selden Car Crash

Man was in the middle of the roadway when struck by a 2012 Nissan, police said.

A Medford man has been identified as a pedestrian struck and killed in a Wednesday night motor vehicle crash in Selden, Suffolk County police said.

According to police, Timothy Blake, 53 of Medford, was in the middle of County Road 83 at the Route 25 intersection when he was struck by a 2012 Nissan driven by Melanie Purcell of Port Jefferson Station around 9:30 p.m. Purcell was traveling northbound on CR-83 at the time of the crash, police said.

Blake was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital via Selden Fire Department Ambulance, where he was pronounced dead.

The Nissan has been impounded for a safety check, and police say the investigation is continuing.
