Police: Patchogue Man Dies In Car Crash

Two female passengers also injured in Sunday collision.

A Patchogue man was killed and two female passengers were injured in a Sunday morning car crash, said Suffolk County Police.

Colin Garbett, 22, was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu westbound on the north service road of Sunrise Highway east of Waverly Avenue when he lost control of the car, struck a fence and grass median, and overturned onto the express portion of the roadway around 1:32 a.m., police said.

Garbett was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Suffolk County Medical Examiner's Office, police said.

Colleen Malia, 22 of Oakdale, and Nicole Wilk, 20 of Bohemia, both passengers in the car, were transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center by the North Patchogue Fire Department Rescue Squad. They were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the investigation is continuing, and anyone with information on the crash are asked to contact the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
