A Patchogue man faces a slew of charges after he fled police in a stolen car Friday night, police said.
John Miller, 38, was driving a 2011 Hyundai westbound on Route 25A in Rocky Point at 10:35 p.m. when he was observed by State Parks officers, who determined that the Hyundai had been stolen, Suffolk police said.
A Sixth Precinct patrol vehicle attempted to stop Miller’s vehicle on Echo Avenue and 25A in Mount Sinai, but Miller refused to pull over, and he proceeded southbound on County Road 83, police said.
Officers continued to follow the vehicle but the pursuit was terminated due to safety concerns, police said.
A short time later, the pursuit resumed in Shirley and police deployed stop sticks on the northbound side of William Floyd Parkway, where the pursuit ended in the area of the parkway and the Long Island Expressway, police said.
Miller was arrested at the scene, but he later complained of pain and was taken to J. T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson, where he was treated for minor injuries and released, police said.
Miller is charged with felony DWI, unlawfully fleeing a police officer, aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, reckless driving, resisting arrested, third degree grand larceny (theft of vehicle) and two outstanding parole warrants.
Miller was held overnight and was due to be arraigned Saturday at First District Court in Central Islip.
