Police: Patchogue Man Identified In Fatal Crash

A 50-year-old man was killed early Sunday morning in E. Main Street crash in Patchogue.

A 50-year-old Patchogue man was identified as the pedestrian killed in a Sunday morning car accident on E. Main Street in Patchogue, says Suffolk County Police.

Jose Mendoza was walking on Main Street, just east of Bay Avenue in Patchogue at 2:28 a.m., when he was struck by a 2001 Chevrolet driven by Matthew Weber, 23 of East Patchogue, says police. As previously reported the pedestrian, now known to be Mendoza, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

The investigation is continuing and police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
