Police Seeking Driver Involved in Hit-And-Run

Teenager struck in January accident on Horseblock Road in Medford recovering as SCPD investigation continues.

Suffolk County Police are continuing their search for the driver of an SUV they said was involved in a January hit-and-run incident in Medford.

According to police, a 14-year old girl was walking along the shoulder on the eastbound side of Horseblock Road near Ohio Avenue when what is believed to be either a dark-colored SUV or a pick-up truck her at 9:10 p.m. on January 16. She was taken to the hospital for treatment of a broken leg.

Police believe the vehicle that struck the teen is a dark-colored 2007-2012 Toyota FJ Cruiser. The vehicle would have suffered front-end damage to the front passenger side.

Police Sgt. Jean-Pierre Kosciuk told Patch that all information police have on the incident has been made public.

He noted that the victim is now recovering at a local hospital.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is offering a cash award of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information is being asked to call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-200-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
