Police Rescue Patchogue Woman From Swan Lake

Linda Hall is pulled from water Monday morning after her canoe tipped over, police say.

A Patchogue woman can thank two Fifth Precinct police officers for rescuing her from the waters of Swan Lake Monday morning.

Linda Hall, 32, was canoeing on the East Patchogue Lake when the canoe tipped over and she fell in the water at 10:35 a.m., police said. Hall, who was not wearing a life jacket, managed to dial 911.

When officers arrived, they could hear Hall screaming, but could not see her "due to the presence of thick reeds," police said. Officers Brian Loughlin and John Falcone went into the marsh and followed Hall's voice until they located her, police said.

Hall was then pulled from the water onto a marshy area. Members of the North Patchogue Fire Department and other police units assisted the officers and Hall out of the marsh.

Hall refused medical treatment at the scene. The officers were not injured.
