Cops are continuing to look for four individuals that assaulted and attempted to rob a man who was walking on Medford Avenue and Oak Street in Patchogue early Monday morning.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Suffolk County police say no arrests have been made thus far, and additional information on the victim is unavailable.

Anyone with information about this attack are being asked by police to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. While the investigation is ongoing, police said that detectives do not get into specifics on how they conduct the investigation.

As previously reported, police said the four-person group approached the victim at 3:55 a.m. asking if he had money. When the victim said that he did not, the group assaulted him.

One officer chased after one of the attackers, but was unable to catch him. A helicopter was involved during the search, police said.

Michael, thank you for being the ONLY news outlet reporting on this horrific issue. To those who are not following this article, the man who was hurt is an elderly man who was walking to the LIRR train station on his way to his job in Queens. So is it safe to say this is not considered a hate crime worthy of discussing? I suspect the Village and other media outlets are being quiet for one reason...bad press OR this would prove the concerns of residents about people 'hanging around outside stores at ALL hours of the night is an accident waiting to happen. We need to know more information on this crime and we are being kept in the dark. Again I ask, why is there a media blackout on this?

Michael, is there any update to this story? Have they arrested any of the 4 suspects? Any update on how the victim is doing? I know myself and others would like to know what is going on. This remains a huge concern as a resident who lives across the street from this attack. Thanks.
