Police: Son Charged With Mother's Murder in Medford

A month and a half after Bonnie Farrell was found dead in her Medford bedroom, her own son has been charged in her murder, police said.

Sean Farrell, 24, was arrested on Thursday and charged with second degree murder, police said.

Police were called to a home located at 5 Norway Pine Drive around 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 9 after Eric Connelly, 47, discovered his wife, Bonnie Farrell, 45, dead in their bedroom.

Farrell had suffered a head injury and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Sean Farrell was held overnight at the Fifth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court in Central Islip on Friday.

Actually what most of the local media failed to report is that he very sadly is a diagnosed schizophrenic whose physician removed him from his meds. His mother was going to take him to the hospital the next day although reports are not clear on whether he knew that or not. He remorsefully told his grandmother that he killed his mother and hoped that no one was mad at him. the Bible says: "In your own household will be your enemy". People don't realize what a risk they take in having children... sorry, but its true.
Pat January 26, 2014 at 01:59 PM
Christie, you are taking that verse out of context, and your statement seems harsh in this situation. It has to do with enemies in your own family if you chose to follow Christ at the time of His coming. It is not about the risk in having children. Those who chose to follow Him would possibly meet with persecution from those in their family or their friends or their rabbis because Christ came to turn the world on its head. Those who chose to follow him would face derision and persecution from those they loved, but in the end, they would have chosen the right path. The same could occur today where family might not understand that same choice. There are risks in living each and every day. You could get out of bed, trip, hit your head on the end table and die. Children are a blessing from God! Mental illness is like any other disease that afflicts man. Sadly, we are not always successful in treating it just like we do not have the answers for many other diseases.

That quote from the Bible means exactly what it states back then + NOW: You have only to look around + discover that it's people's own family members, spouses, children, friends, job associates, that bring trouble + misery. You say it's "a blessing from God to have kids" - I don't think so - even if your kids are perfect angels; what world are they born into? A world of good + evil + that means suffering WILL happen. I rest my case.
ARCH STANTON January 29, 2014 at 07:12 PM
CHRISTIE, YOU MUST BE LIVING A LONELY LIFE WITHOUT A FAMILY. THE ONLY ENEMY IN YOUR HOUSEHOLD IS THE BOTTLE. IT'S TIME TO REPENT.
christie nicolle January 29, 2014 at 07:29 PM
Arch Stanton, why must you write in capitols? Please stop, it's abrasive... And No, you're wrong Arch, my life is free, fulfilled + easy - I chose never to have kids once I studied Philosophy + looked around at people's lives being restricted by all that. Without 'baggage' I'm forever free to pursue enlightenment which is what it's all about. Capice?
ARCH STANTON January 31, 2014 at 07:03 PM
HEY CHRISTIE, STAY ON TOPIC. WHILE OTHERS ARE COMMENTING ON THE TRAGEDY THAT THIS ARTICLE DESCRIBES, YOUR USING THIS AS A FORUM TO REINFORCE YOUR BELIEFS ABOUT CHILDREN IN GENERAL. THE BIBLE HAS ABSOLUTELY NO RELEVANCE IN REGARD TO THIS STORY. CLEARLY YOU MADE THE RIGHT DECISION IN NOT HAVING CHILDREN, BASED ON ALL OF YOUR NEGATIVE COMMENTS. WHY DO YOU FEEL IT NECESSARY TO JUSTIFY YOUR PERSONAL LIFE CHOICES? YOUR KNOWLEDGE OF PHILOSOPHICAL IDEALS SEEM MORE NARROW MINDED THAT ENLIGHTENED. BY YOUR STANDARDS, YOU SHOULD KEEP EVERYONE AT ARMS LENGTH, RATHER THAN RISK THE DANGERS OF ENTERING INTO ANY RELATIONSHIPS.
christie nicolle January 31, 2014 at 08:44 PM
Silly Arch Stanton, listen: the Bible has EVERYTHING to do with everything foolish people do! It's the Salient point in fact... if people thought out carefully WHY they do something, WHY they want anything, the bad stuff would happen less. Example: This pathetic mental case who murdered his parent is symptomatic of this FALLEN WORLD - if he were never born, that woman would be alive.
ARCH STANTON February 01, 2014 at 11:24 AM
HEY CHRISTIE, OBVIOUSLY YOUR PARENTS DIDN'T FEEL THE SAME WAY ABOUT HAVING CHILDREN. THE BIBLE IS A WELLSPRING OF KNOWLEDGE, WHY DO YOU ONLY USE IT TO MAKE NEGATIVE REFERENCES ABOUT SOCIETY. ALL OF YOUR COMMENTS REFLECT A DOOMSDAY MENTALITY. THANKFULLY THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE DON'T SHARE YOUR DISTORTED VIEWS.
christie nicolle February 01, 2014 at 03:07 PM
hey Arch, you got it wrong - I merely say it's a "Risk" to have kids + I believe few people should be parents judging from the terrible stories we hear. I love/honor my parents + would kill to defend them - they were lucky with me - BUT my elder sibling brought them hell. See the Risk? The Bible warns us about this Fallen World - we are "to be wise as serpents + as gentle as doves". After all, it's not our True home down here; our home is Heaven. That's why the great sages + mystics never had kids or married. The truth is nobody knows what kind of soul is sent to them when they give birth or what's inside a spouse/friend/associate -good or evil? The Bible reminds us: "The heart is desperately wicked, who can know it?"
ARCH STANTON February 01, 2014 at 06:10 PM
HEY CHRISTIE, I DIDN'T GET IT WRONG. YOU WERE FACED WITH A DIFFICULT EXPERIENCE WITHIN YOUR OWN FAMILY AND THEREFORE YOU SEEM UNABLE TO BE OBJECTIVE. I'LL STANDBY MY PREVIOUS COMMENT, THANKFULLY THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE DON'T SHARE YOUR DISTORTED VIEWS. IN THE FUTURE, YOU MIGHT TRY TO BE MORE-OPEN MINDED. LUCK IS NOT A FACTOR WHEN HAVING CHILDREN. MY WIFE AND I HAVE THREE GROWN SONS THAT WE GUIDED TO ADULTHOOD SUCCESSFULLY. THIS NOT ONLY TAKES LOVE BUT ALSO SUPERVISION. I'LL MAKE NO FURTHER OBSERVATIONS.
christie nicolle February 02, 2014 at 11:48 AM
you don't read english Arch Stanton... I already said "FEW people should have kids" - you are one of the few - But no matter how wonderful your kids are, will they not suffer from having a body that's doomed to decay + death? Not to mention the endless disappointments from flawed human beings? Matter is separation from God. The Bible says: "Tobe absent from the body is to be with God". I base my views from studies of the Bible + Philosophy + having met + known enlightened masters...AND being cognizant of the world today + History. You must live in a small world if you don't pay attention to the evil that goes on. The great prophets all say "Everything that's of matter will suffer + die - but not Spirit". That's Eternal + forever. Tell me, is your body eternal? Contemplate what's Spiritual. Remember: If this fallen world was wonderful, Jesus would not have died on the cross.

Wow! What's going on on the Patch?
ARCH STANTON February 22, 2014 at 02:41 PM
HEY BILL, NOTHING NEW OUT OF THE ORDINARY WHEN IT COMES TO CHRISTIE. SHE STILL NEEDS PSYCHIATRIC HELP FOR HER MENTAL DISORDERS.
