Police: Stuck Tractor Trailer Closes LIE Near Exit 63

Westbound side re-opened at 1:14 p.m., no structural damage police said.

A tractor trailer was stuck under a bridge on the Long Island Expressway near exit 63 at 9:09 a.m. Saturday, police said.

The exit is near the borders of Medford, Farmingville and Holtsville.

The incident closed the westbound side of the highway at exit 63 until 1:14 p.m.

Police said the cause of the incident was a malfunction, and the Department of Transportation responded and investigated the bridge.

Police said that there did not appear to be any structural damage, and that the driver of the truck was issued two summonses unrelated to this incident.

Police also said that Motor Carrier conducted a safety inspection on the scene and the truck was towed to its owner.
