Report: DWI Charges Dropped Against Woman for Medford Incident

Kregel's attorney says physical and mental disabilities gave false appearance of impairment, reports FIOS1.

A Farmingville woman formerly charged with driving under the influence while her nephew was in the car in Medford has been cleared by the Suffolk County District Attorney reports FIOS1.

Karen Kregel, 44, was on April 16 after her 2004 Honda Accord was seen by police traveling westbound in the eastbound lane of the Long Island Expressway service road in Medford around 11:18 a.m. The vehicle made a U-turn, causing another vehicle to swerve to avoid an accident, police said.

When police stopped Kregel's vehicle, they charged her with being impaired by drugs. Kregel's attorney reportedly says this was false, as a combination of physical and mental disabilities gave this appearance.
