Report: Person Struck By Train Near Patchogue Station

Three trains delayed by at least 100 minutes due to incident, LIRR's Twitter account said.

A Long Island Rail Road train struck a person at the Bay Avenue Crossing near Patchogue Friday night, Newsday reports citing LIRR officials.

According to the report, the 9:07 p.m. westbound train from Speonk originally due to Jamaica at 10:47 p.m. struck the person. The injured person was rushed to the hospital, officials told Newsday. Bay Avenue Crossing is the third crossing east of the Patchogue Station, officials told Newsday.

According to the LIRR’s Twitter account, the 9:07 p.m. train was held at the Patchogue station and was operating 109 minutes late when service was restored. The 8:53 p.m. train from Jamaica and 9:59 p.m. from Speonk were also delayed by around 100 minutes due to the incident.
