Sayville Man Arrested After Boating Accident

Crash occurred just east of the Patchogue River.

Sayville resident Joseph Leon, 45, was arrested early Monday morning for charges of Boating While Intoxicated, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.

Leon crashed a boat into a bulkhead just east of the Patchogue River at approximately 1 a.m. on Monday. According to police, Leon and a passenger were rescued from the boat by members of the Marine Bureau along with a local fire department. Both were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
