Services Set For Slain E. Patchogue Teen

Jennifer Mejia would have graduated on Thursday from Bellport High School.

Instead, friends and family of the 17-year-old from East Patchogue will be gathering at the for the second day of her wake after she was down along with three others Sunday morning at Haven Drugs store in Medford.

Police are still searching for the , who took painkillers from the pharmacy after murdering two employees, including Mejia, and two customers.

Mejia's wake will take place Wednesday and Thurday from 2- 4 p.m. and 7- 9 p.m. at the funeral home, located at 85 Medford Ave. in Patchogue. The funeral mass will take place Friday at , 495 N Ocean Ave. in Patchogue, at 10 a.m., and burial will be afterward at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery at 3442 Route 112 in Coram.

A Facebook page set up in Mejia’s memory has approximately 4,000 people following, posting condolences to the family and memories of Mejia.

Kimberly Jimenez, 17, a friend of Mejia's, brought a yearbook featuring her to the crime scene on Sunday. In her yearbook, Mejia’s nickname is listed as “Little Bean” and says that her favorite memories are her good times with friends Sandra, Amber and Katerina. She also expresses her love for her parents and loved ones.

Jimenez said that Mejia was not originally scheduled to work at the drug store on Sunday, but had switched shifts with another employee that day.

Mejia’s family gathered at her home in East Patchogue Sunday evening, with a priest on hand to pray with the family, relatives said.

In a statement, Joseph Cipp, superintendent of the South Country School District, said that the district is deeply saddened by Sunday's events.

“On behalf of our school community I would like to offer our most heartfelt condolences to the Mejia family," Cipp said. "Jennifer was an exceptional young woman, the kind of child and student that any parent would be proud of, hardworking, intelligent, and well-liked by her peers. She will be remembered by us not for the way she passed, but rather for the example she set for others by the way she lived."
