Police have arrested the man they say exposed himself to teens at Setauket Elementary School and to a young girl at the Target in Medford earlier this month.

Ray Sanchez, a registered Level 2 sex offender from Coram, was held overnight at the sixth precinct and is expected to be arraigned on Wednesday at First District Court in Central Islip.

Police responded to the Medford Target, at 2975 Horseblock Rd. on Oct. 10 after a customer reported that a man exposed himself to her eight-year old daughter while they were shopping.  According to police, the woman was able to take several pictures of the man before he fled the store.

On Oct. 15 police were called to Setauket Elementary School after two 13-year-old girls reported that they saw a man masturbating in a car, which was parked in front of the school on East Main St. The girls told police the man made eye contact with them as they walked by.

Sanchez, 31, of 4 Summercress Lane in Coram, has been charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, exposure of a person and public lewdness.

Obviously this guy has a serious problem and can't control himself. He should not be wandering through society freely. It's only a matter of time with him that a child will be injured mentally, physically or both.

Chris K You are right. He cannot control himself This is a compulsion, Anxiety, which is only relieved by the offending behavior, may be the underlying issue. How this particular behavior came to be the source of his relief is interesting but irrelevant, Medication can help to control this kind of behavior. Whether he will take the medication is, of course, the issue. Perhaps the threat of jail will be a motivator for him to do so.

What a disgusting pig he is! I truly hope he doesn't get a slap on the wrist, simply get out and do this to another child! What a sick individual-gross!
