Victim Of Fatal Crash Was Farmingville Man

Police identify victim and his passenger, listed in serious condition at Stony Brook University Medical Center.

Police have released the identity of the man who was killed yesterday afternoon in a single-car crash on North Ocean Avenue as well as his passenger who suffered serious injury in the crash.

Police say 26-year-old Darrell Lacross, of Horizon View Drive in Farmingville was driving his 2013 Subaru BRZ northbound on North Ocean Avenue when he apparently lost control of his vehicle. Lacross struck the guard rail on the east side of the road, went airborne, and struck several trees before coming to rest in a ravine.  

Lacross was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant with the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. His passenger, Patrick Baptiste, 26, of Virginia, is listed in serious condition at Stony Brook University Medical Center. 

Lacross' vehicle was impounded for a safety check, according to police. The investigation is ongoing, and detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed or have information on the crash to call the Sixth Squad at (631) 854-8652.
