Woman Airlifted From Accident

Collision with telephone pole blocks off Route 112 for one hour.

UPDATE 8/1: Suffolk County Fifth Precinct said that the driver of the vehicle was arrested for driving while under the influence of drugs. The woman who was airlifted only suffered minor injuries.

A woman was airlifted to a unknown hospital after the car she was in hit a telephone pole on Route 112 between Tremont and Greenport Avenues in Medford Saturday. Both lanes of traffic on Route 112 were closed for an hour while the accident was cleared. The airlifted woman was a passenger and it is currently unknown if there were other injuries.

The incident was reported to Suffolk County police at 10:41 a.m., and is currently under investigation.
