Amneal Pharmaceuticals Undergoing $60 Million Expansion

A 300,000 square foot addition to Amneal Pharmaceuticals underway at 50 Horseblock Road, which is close to Medford and located in Brookhaven Hamlet, was recently visited by Brookhaven Town Supervisor Ed Romaine.

The expansion is a $60 million project that a release from Brookhaven Town says will create 400 jobs. The company currently has a 110,000 square foot facility, and the expansion is going to be intended for manufacturing, packaging, warehousing, research and development, executive and administrative offices. Also included is a 35,000 square foot stand alone facility for potent compounds manufacturing, warehousing, packaging and research and development.

“Amneal’s expansion represents a great boost for our local economy and within the next few years, they will be one of our largest employers," Romaine said in a release. "I thank them for making our Town their home and I commend the IDA for helping to prove once again that Brookhaven is a great place to grow your business and be successful.”

The company currently 200 people at the existing Brookhaven facility. The company currently leases facilities in Hauppauge and Commack, which according to the release, they plan on closing and transferring those employees to the Brookhaven location.

The facility is expected to be complete by summer 2014.
